Graduate Certificate in Biostatistics or Epidemiology

Section: Certificate Programs

About the Graduate Certificates

Individuals who focus on data analysis must equip themselves with a variety of tools to meet the demands of today’s life-science research. Through a mix of integrated training in the computational, quantitative, and biomedical sciences, students will enhance their expertise, and prepare for other professional degrees.

This certificate program is designed to supplement and build on the knowledge of working professionals who desire additional training in Biostatistics and Epidemiology. It will also cater to students who wish to further their knowledge of these two fields by immersing themselves into the field for one academic year in preparation for other graduate of professional degrees.

Like the MS program, the graduate certificate program will provide integrated training in computational, quantitative, and biomedical sciences to support health-related research performed in academia, government and industry. Students will be able to implement their newly acquired knowledge via sessions in the computational laboratory and daily homework.

No other program in the surrounding states offers such a mix of course offerings in a single certificate program. The certificate programs that Georgetown offer benefits from the presence of a medical school, a NCI designated comprehensive cancer center, and a large contingent of biomedical researchers.

Students will collaborate closely with DBBB faculty and biomedical scientists; they will be encouraged to apply and implement the methodologies and knowledge immediately in their work environment.

Students are required to complete a total of 15 core course credits and on a full-time basis, can complete the program in one year (no summer coursework required).
